It's been a while since I've been over here. Often I make things and sell them too quickly to take the time to post here on the blog or even on the bebe&boo Facebook page. And, as a result, I also shut down my Etsy shop.
So much has happened in the last several months, including the passing of my Mom, Bebe, whose name and creativity inspired me to sew, design, and make jewelry in the first place. My Mom's death, along with my family's journey to sell our home and possessions in order to travel around the country and world, has placed much of my creativity on the back burner.
BUT, the creativity is back on and I wanted to tell you about something fun bebe&boo has been invited to do. My friend, the huge-hearted Emily Wierenga, author of a blog of the same name, as well as several books, including "Chasing Silhouettes" and her memoir, "Atlas Girl," is also the founder of The Lulu Tree, a non-profit organization reaching women in the slums of Kampala, Uganda. Their mission is "Preventing Tomorrow's Orphans by Equipping Today's Mothers," which is deep at that heart of Bevy, my non-profit which also benefits from the sales of bebe&boo pieces.
bebe&boo will be contributing one-of-a-kind pieces to The Lulu Tree Boutique, a shop with proceeds that will enable the hiring of national Ugandan women to minister to other women and their families right within their communities. The model makes my heart sing as it was the topic of my college research over 20 years ago, but life in my world got busy and I haven't gotten to practice it much.
So, please take a few minutes to check out The Lulu Tree and the heart of the mission. "The Lulu Tree" will be a common name around these parts, so I hope you'll take some time to "meet" the women as the Lulu family grows.
Remember, in true bebe&boo form, the pieces I contribute for sales over at The Lulu Tree Boutique will be one-of-a-kind, so keep an eye out and act quickly as they are known to go fast...and for a good self-sustaining cause, it's a win, win!

Holiday Open House
Mark your calendars, call your friends, and head on over for a little early holiday shopping.
And, if you are interested in having a custom piece re-created from one of your existing pieces of jewelry, bring it along and I will see what we can come up with! I'd be happy to help make a very special and unique gift for someone on your list this year!

Retro Treasure Chest
I know I haven't posted here in ages.
Sorry for that!
As of now, any item you see in any previous post is no longer available. Which is great for me, but not so great for you if you were interested in one particular item.
Don't fret! If you see something on the site and want to know if I can re-create it to a degree (since I up-cycle and recycle, exact remakes not necessarily available), shoot me an email and I'd be happy to chat.
In the meantime, I have to tell you about my great Saturday this previous weekend. I left the house at 6:40am and headed up to Denver to meet Erin Ferris, the most fantastic hair stylist, who, incidentally, has become a wonderful and treasured friend. She did wonders to my much needed mop and at 8:09 I hopped in the car to head back down to my neck of the woods which is about 35 minutes away.
All of a sudden the jam-packed parking lot of Goodwill in Glendale, CO caught my eye. Why on earth is it so busy at this hour? I thought to myself. I swung into the turn lane to find out for myself.
I still wasn't sure upon entering but headed to the jewelry counter to see if there were any unique treasures.
Oh yeah! Okay, right now, put your arms in front of you and grab each opposite elbow with the other hand...you see a big circle if you look down, right?
Uh-huh! You got it! A BAG, a 25lb bag, of goodies for $40.
I looked at what I could from the outside since it was taped shut, but I caught glimpses and acted cool, not wanting the other patron at the counter to snatch it up before yours truly.
Then I said, "Why is it so busy in here today?"
The other shopper looked at me like I had a third arm. "It's 50% off Day! Everything in the store is 50% off, except items with a blue tag...but yeah!"
I casually looked at the bag...PURPLE TAG!
OH YEAH!
So, here's a sneak peek at some of the items from the 25lb bag I got, which when poured out filled four trays. I'll be recycling and upcycling many of these pieces in new bebe&boo creations.
And, stay tuned because it's inspired me to do a fun PURPLE TAG SALE that you won't want to miss!

Some treasures to share...
Here are some pieces I had fun making this summer. They are all sold, but I still wanted to share.
Be watching, bebe&boo will be opening an Etsy shop soon!
Also, next month, we'll be debuting several Breast Cancer Awareness pieces to raise funds and awareness for a cure. Bebe was recently diagnosed so this is very close to home for us!
She has a great prognosis, thank God, but a long road ahead.
bebe&boo fans can keep her in your thoughts and prayers!

Some pieces at the Shoppe
So, here is a glimpse of some fun one of a kind pieces I sent off to Shoppe on the Corner in South Dakota. It was really a pleasure making these, I have to say! Honestly, that is one of the many reasons being totally eclectic has its advantages...I can go from traditional to funky to somewhere in between all in one creative session. Hope you like!
(Can't remember what I named this for the Shoppe, but here I'll call it
"Blue Pipes" in honor of the Nancy Drew book we just finished, "The Mystery at Lilac Inn")

Don't let anyone pigeon hole your creativity!

Sedona
Sedona
$85
This was a fun piece that took me back to my Arizona roots. I grew up visiting the beautiful town of Sedona with it's boutique shops full of turquoise and sterling. We would picnic in Oak Creek Canyon, climb rocks and gaze at the beautiful reds God chose to display on the rocks surrounding the town.
Extra large chunky turquoise beads are joined to a beautifully carved cinnabar pendant with sterling silver wires and accents. A heavy duty magnetic closure keeps this piece secure.
(I cannot take further orders on this exact piece...any further pieces will vary in color and accents.)
